An Irish Token of Love
This sterling silver wedding token is based on the old Irish saying “Tal a lan notai in bport an bhanais“: Which translates to: “There are a lot of notes in the wedding tune!” Meaning, there is a lot to learn of each other if we are to sing in tune and live in harmony. One side features this saying in Irish, encircling a happy bride and groom.
The back of this wedding coin is also inscribed with the words “Gra Go Deo” (love forever) in both Gaelic and Ogham script. Below the Ogham script is a classic Irish Claddagh, another symbol of love, loyalty and friendship.
A Coin for your Wedding Day
The wedding coin custom dates back to when the groom paid luck money to the family of the bride. Today it is a romantic gesture to signify wealth and financial security.
Today, the tradition goes that the groom hands his bride a newly minted silver piece and says, “I give you this as a token of all I possess.”
The token becomes a family heirloom and is handed down from mother to son.
This piece comes in its own presentation box for your special day!
